During the visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to China, as one of the important projects of Sino-French cooperation. On January 9, 2018, Wang Duanrui, chairman of Weidong Cloud Education Group, represented Weidong and Qingdao International Economic Cooperation Zone jointly signed a framework agreement on the establishment of a Sino-French industrial and commercial innovation base in the Qingdao West Coast New Area International Economic Cooperation Zone with the Committee and the Western Bretagne Chamber of Commerce and Industry of France.

According to the agreement, Weidong will join with the French Chamber of Commerce in Western Bretagne to build a Sino-French industrial and commercial innovation base in the Qingdao International Economic Cooperation Zone. The project aims to implement the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, respond to the “Belt and Road” initiative, promote Qingdao’s opening up to the outside world, and cultivate new dynamism for regional development. It mainly focuses on cooperation between China and France in technological innovation, industrial promotion, and vocational education. Qingdao International Economic Cooperation Zone is responsible for providing land and other support, France’s Western Brittany Chamber of Commerce and Industry is responsible for introducing advanced European resources, projects and investments, and Weidong Group Co., Ltd. is responsible for conceptual planning, development and construction, and project operations.
Qingdao International Economic Cooperation Zone is a key functional area of Qingdao West Coast New District. It undertakes the important mission of building a new platform for the country to participate in international competition and cooperation. It is committed to building a modern industrial city with ecological sustainable development, industrial leading ability, and the characteristics of international cooperation.
After the signing of the contract, the three parties hope to build a platform for exchanges between the two countries in the economic, trade and cultural fields through the Sino-French Industrial and Commercial Innovation Base Project to enhance regional international competitiveness. The project is located in the southern part of Qingdao International Economic Cooperation Zone, with a total investment of 1 billion euros, a construction area of about 1,500 acres, and a building scale of about 1 million square meters. It is planned to start implementation in 2018 with a construction period of 3-5 years.
